FleetEurope keep children’s charity on the road
Nationwide children and young people’s charity, Action for Children, has more than 500 projects and 5,000 staff members spread across the UK at any one time. The mobility needs of this widespread and diverse team fall to a fleet of owned pool cars which are essential to supporting children and young people of all ages. Should one of these vehicles become unavailable, overall consequences can have serious detrimental impact over both the short and long term.
Turning to FleetEurope for more than five years, Action for Children rely on the fleet management provider for daily and short term rental requirements. Mainly based on popular city (class B) and small hatchback (class C) cars with occasional minibus hire, Action for Children often require these sought after vehicles at very short notice. Requests for vehicles can come in at any time from almost anywhere in the UK.
Delivering against this brief is a challenge in itself, however there is also the added task of ensuring value; charities like Action for Children must ensure funds reach those in need. Any expenditure must be justified and proven to deliver maximum value.
Not only do FleetEurope provide solutions to all of these requirements, but also ensure value for the charity by minimising expenditure on services and avoiding unnecessary expense.
With established partner relationships with hire providers across the UK, the charity is always near a supplier regardless of location. These existing relationships also mean should one provider not have the right vehicle available, an alternative can be sought within budget. A standard nationwide rate card also allows Action for Children to budget and forward plan, placing funds where they are needed it most.
FleetEurope also worked with Action for Children to set up protocols to ensure vehicles are only supplied when there is a real business need. This saves the charity both time and cost, allowing drivers to go directly to FleetEurope with requests. These are monitored and scrutinised against protocols developed between both FleetEurope and Action for Children and prevent business expenditure on unnecessary or unpermitted rentals.
“FleetEurope are always very professional, attentive and adaptable. Nothing is too much trouble and they have even supported and developed governance regimes, which are essential to our business,” commented Matthew Chase, Transport Manager at Action for Children.
“We knew our brief was a challenge, but FleetEurope has not only delivered, they’ve excelled. On one memorable occasion, a driver accidentally mis-fuelled the vehicle on the way to an important meeting. Not only did FleetEurope find a replacement vehicle, it was delivered to the stranded driver’s location in time for them to reach their meeting. On this example alone, I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending FleetEurope. Their service is simply exceptional,” added Chase.
