FleetEurope Profile: Mike Cooke

FleetEurope’s Mike Cooke has always been determined. Rising through the ranks since entering the automotive industry as an apprentice technician straight from school in 1999, today Mike is Fleet Operations Manager at FleetEurope. His motivated approach ensures customer’s fleets operate efficiently, delivering real value to clients. In FleetEurope’s latest profile interview, Mike shares his love of cars despite his early desires to be a fighter pilot.

I love a puzzle,” Mike answers quickly. “Having a new, innovative project to get my teeth into is the thing that gets me up in the morning. As we take on all aspects of our client’s fleet necessities, you never know what each day will bring. A new challenge is always just around the corner. I love it.

As Fleet Operations Manager, Mike acts as an extension to a customer’s business as their own personal fleet manager, professionally handling their vehicle needs, right from procurement through to end disposal, and everything in between.

Mike strives to deliver professional, proficient service to every client with outstanding levels of customer satisfaction, leading the contract hire division at FleetEurope by example. “I believe inspiration can come from within; I’ve always been very determined and motivated to push myself hard to succeed and take on new challenges. I’d like to think my ambition is infectious and shared with my team and colleagues.

Such is Mike’s dedication to the industry that Mike couldn’t see himself doing anything else. “It would definitely be something along the same lines, maybe something in aviation? As a child, my ambition was to be a pilot, the result of watching Top Gun too many times with my brother. But cars have always been a big draw for me.

Indeed, Mike’s passion for cars has always been a motivation, sighting James Bond’s Aston Martin DBS, Bugatti Veyron and the iconic Ferrari 250 GTO as members of his dream garage. His obsession with all things speed has clearly fuelled his all-time pet hate; lateness. Indeed, if elected PM for the day, his first task would be to “fix all the potholes”, especially those on his daily commute.

After six years in the fleet sector, Mike cites career advancement as his biggest business achievement. “My progression through the ranks and building such a deep knowledge of the industry would have to be the proudest accomplishment of my working life.

A doting family man with a burning desire to provide his clients with a professional and bespoke service, Mike is focused on establishing FleetEurope as one of the market leaders, recognised as a fleet management specialist across the industry.
