FleetEurope Profile: Joe Howick
Joe Howick joined the Fleeturope board in March 2016, having spent almost 20 years at Leasedrive Group before it was acquired by private equity investor HgCapital in 2013.
As chief operating officer, Joe’s key responsibility is the operational side of the business, focusing on new product development, customer retention and driving new business growth.
“I joined the FleetEurope team at a time of significant growth and have respected the business for the past 20 years, sharing a number of fundamental values. I am particularly impressed with the depth of knowledge in the business; with the average staff retention rate of almost 10 years.”
Joe’s main passion outside of work is long-distance running, which he took up a few years ago. Joe has taken part in seven marathons and some Tough Mudder events over the past few years to raise money for charity and keep himself in shape. He recently achieved his goal of running a sub four-hour marathon in Berlin whilst raising funds for ABF The Soldiers Charity.
He has travelled to various countries over the years, with his most memorable holiday destinations, including Australia, Thailand and the Brittany coastline in France. “Having spent a lot of time with my family in Brittany recently I’ve really taken to the local cuisine. My favourite meal at the moment is a savoury galette and a glass of local cider, followed by a sweet crêpe and a strong coffee.”
Joe’s first ever car was a classic Mini City and he now drives a BMW X5. The top three cars he would include in his dream garage are a McLaren P1, a fully specced Mercedes-Benz S-Class Saloon and the 1963 Aston Martin DB5, featured in several of the James Bond movies.
