Maersk sets sail with FleetEurope to reduce daily rental costs and minor damage claims

FleetEurope, a leading independent vehicle management solutions provider, has been appointed by global transport and logistics company Maersk, for the provision of short-term vehicle rental services.

The new partnership will see FleetEurope provide rental management and damage support services to several of Maersk’s UK divisions, including The Maersk Company, Maersk Line and Damco.

Maersk will have access to FleetEurope’s extensive fleet of over 400,000 vehicles available from more than 1,500 locations nationwide, a dedicated account management team and an award-winning online booking system to manage their vehicles 24/7 from any location.

Staff will be utilising a range of vehicle groups, from city cars to executive saloons to support various mobility requirements across the business, including:

  • Transport for cadets that are being trained at various locations by Maersk to become deck and engineering officers for the business.
  • Temporary lead-in vehicles for new employees to use during their probationary period, prior to ordering their company car.
  • Ad-hoc transport for staff attending internal and external meetings off-site who don’t have access to company cars.
  • One-way hires for employees travelling to and from airports that need the convenience of dropping off and collecting vehicles at airport branches nationwide.

By switching their short-term rental requirements to FleetEurope, Maersk stands to make a projected saving of over 13% on their annual rental expenditure.

The company will also benefit from FleetEurope’s award-winning De-Risk Light Damage Cover service across all their future rentals to ensure their drivers are covered in the event of any minor accidents, valued at less than £500 to repair. The cover includes damage to a vehicle’s bodywork, tyres, alloys and windscreen, as well as replacement keys and misfuelling call-outs. De-Risk won the Innovation in Rental award at the prestigious Fleet World Honours 2018, held at the RAC Club in London earlier this month.

Peter Sani, fleet manager at Maersk, commented: “Switching our daily rental requirements to FleetEurope has delivered substantial savings compared with our previous supplier. Their unique De-Risk service also offers peace of mind that our drivers are always covered for any minor damage to their vehicle, regardless of who is at fault.”
